We also had their slow cook ribs what a big mistake and waste of money. With all their ipas and other fancy beers you think they can put a few drops in their beer batter. You would think beer battered fish with have a little beer taste. The only reason I can see people come here because of location and their selection of beer and whiskeys. We attempted to go here but the kitchen was closed because a utility issue. We probably won’t visit again, as there are so many wonderful restaurants in the area that combine amazing service and delicious food. We usually tip really well because we know jobs in the service industry are really demanding and they can be hard, but we couldn’t justify leaving a great tip for poor service on this visit. I think the experience might have been better if we would have had someone helpful and who wanted to be there. Maybe we should have just stuck with a mimosa or two.Īll in all, I’d say give it a try but hope you get a helpful server. I will say that those with drinks looked happy and seemed to really be enjoying their meal. So, maybe it is consistency that needs to be looked at. So now we have tried Melville’s in-house and we did take-out previously. Pulled pork sandwich came out buttered (even though we requested it dry due to the food allergy.) The fries were crispy and creamy in the middle - the best part of our meal. The cauliflower that was served with the meatloaf was cooked from a frozen mix and had zero salt or seasoning on it. The meatloaf definitely was under seasoned, but the food was pretty good otherwise. The food was served hot and looked great when it came out, but the burger was slightly under seasoned. She did ask if we wanted refills on our drinks as we were paying our bill - a little late and I think she just didn’t want to be bothered with getting them, and knew we would say’ “ no thanks” because we were already gathering our items to leave. The waitress forgot to bring out the requested condiments, and after asking she still forgot them. We had a food allergy in our party and the waitress didn’t want to be bothered with a question or two, and kind of threw an attitude about this. We did, however, order two orders of wings for appetizers. We could tell as soon as she took our drink orders. We didn’t order drinks and, clearly, our waitress wasn’t thrilled with that choice. (Inside had plenty of open seating and the hostess did ask if we would rather be seated immediately inside.) We were okay with that as we chose to sit outside, and it was a really nice day. We were told it would be a minute or two wait, but it ended up being 20 minutes. Right next to us were several large four person tables and booths, any of which would have been comfortable given we were ordering late lunch/early dinner.Īs we were almost done, we realized they allow non-service dogs inside indoor dining area, (as someone who loves animals and has taken care of several different pets throughout my life) which we think is unsanitary. The size of the table was big enough if you were only going to have beer and a small starter. Given it was empty except for one other table in the front, and we also had several bags of peaches and apricots (which we let them know), we wondered why we were given a tiny table for two all the way in the back where servers were chatting and folding napkins. We had to double check there wasn't a mistake made with the everything seasoning pretzel bc they looked like plain mini baguettes, kind of like the complimentary Olive Garden rolls (haven't been to one in 20 years so not sure if they r still) but with a baking soda wash. The fried food was so oily and greasy, coating slid right off. Overall the food was too heavy, dripping with sugary, oily sauces so you couldn't really see or taste the meat. We ordered their most popular items, thinking the turnover would be good. If you love drowning food in sauce, you may like it. The beer was good but we heartily regretted the food. After grabbing some fruit from the farmers market right in front, we saw the high reviews for this place and gave it a try.
